About Thomas Mazzoni, DO, FAOCO
Dr. Thomas Mazzoni specializes in all aspects Otolaryngology/Facial Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery. He grew up in Union County N.J. and completed his undergraduate B.S. degree in Pharmacy – cum laude from Rutgers University College of Pharmacy in New Jersey where he became an active member of the Rho Chi national pharmacy honor society. He practiced as a licensed pharmacist for a year before he began attending medical school. He was then accepted to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rowan) School of Osteopathic Medicine where he attained many honors, including the New Jersey Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, Violet E. Sutula Memorial Auxiliary Osteopathic Scholarship.
After medical school, Dr. Mazzoni went on to complete residency training in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery/Facial Plastics Surgery at Botsford (now Beaumont) Hospital – a Michigan State University affiliated hospital. During his residency, he was trained by well-renowned specialists in the fields of Head & Neck Surgery, Facial Plastics and Otology (surgery of the ear). Dr. Mazzoni has further expanded on this knowledge base by staying current in his field by attending many educational conferences and training courses including Balloon Sinuplasty, Sleep Apnea Surgery and Trans Oral Robotic Surgery (TORS) for the treatment of cancer of the head and neck. He has published in the field of otolaryngology and has presented at national conferences.
Over the years, Dr. Mazzoni has enjoyed both forming strong bonds with his patients and being an active part of the training process of Otolaryngology/Facial Plastic Surgery residents for Rutgers/Saint Barnabas Medical Center.
