About Rosalia Ayuso, MD

Dr. Ayuso, a native of Spain, graduated in Medicine at the University Autonoma de Madrid, followed by a fellowship in Occupational Medicine at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain, She obtained her specialization in Allergy and Immunology at Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid, Spain. She then decided to pursue an academic research career and completed a Research Fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, followed by the completion of her PhD at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid. She then earned her residency in Internal Medicine at St John's Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, NY and a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Mt Sinai Medical Ctr, NY.

Since finishing her fellowship she has worked at Mt Sinai Medical Center in NY as Clinical Instructor in Medicine and Pediatrics for 7 years, and then pursued private practice with ENT Associates of NY where she helped the allergic population in Queens. 

Dr. Ayuso has over 35 publications in prestigious journals including the JACI, The Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology among others. She has presented her work in multiple international meetings. She has extensive publications in the field of food allergy and her PhD was done in the field of Shellfish allergy. Dr. Ayuso is the recipient of several distinctive awards, honors, and grants, including the von Pirquet Award from the ACAAI for best paper by a fellow in training. She had the honor of collaborating with the  Food Allergy Initiative in NY.

She continues to peer-reviews manuscripts submitted for publication to The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (JACI), the top-ranked allergy journal in the world, as well as JACI: In Practice. 

Her professional memberships are wide-ranging. She has either been, or currently is, a member of the multiple allergy associations such as ACAAI/AAAAI, EAAAI as well as the American Medical Association. Currently she holds an affiliation with Mt Sinai Hospital of Queens.

Dr. Ayuso's professional interests are broad and deep but not limited to food allergy. As an allergy sufferer herself, she is aware of the similar challenges faced by so many of her patients, both adult and pediatric. She is currently receiving immunotherapy to improve her allergies and asthma as well. Dr. Ayuso sees both adult and pediatric patients.
