About Robert Sporter, MD
Robert Sporter, M.D. earned his Bachelor of Science degree Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Pittsburgh, and his Medical Degree from New York Medical College. He completed internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. After completing residency, Dr. Sporter was selected to serve an additional year as Chief Medical Resident. During this time, he was involved in the teaching of medical students and residents and was recognized for his leadership and patient care.
Dr. Sporter received an award from the Department of Medicine for his patient safety research, which was presented at the British Medical Journal’s International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare.
Dr. Sporter completed his fellowship training in Adult and Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at Cohen Children’s Medical Center of NY. He has conducted research in numerous aspects of the field, including food allergy, chronic hives, anaphylaxis, immune deficiencies, and resident education, and has published and presented his research at numerous national meetings. He is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, the New York Allergy and Asthma Society and the New York County Medical Society.
Dr. Sporter is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Allergy & Immunology. He treats both pediatric and adult patients for all types of allergic and immunologic conditions, including allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and allergic eye conditions, asthma and pulmonary function testing, sinus disease, food allergy, medication allergy, hives, eczema, contact dermatitis and patch testing, insect allergy and recurrent infections.
