About Douglas Leventhal, MD
Dr. Leventhal graduated with high honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned his medical degree from UMDNJ, graduating first in his class. He then completed his surgical internship and residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Following residency, Dr. Leventhal went on to receive advanced fellowship training in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at New York University in New York City.
Dr. Leventhal has been inducted into several honor societies throughout all levels of his training, including Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha. He has published numerous journal articles and authored multiple book chapters in the area of Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery. Dr. Leventhal has presented papers at national meetings and has been invited to lecture other physicians at various medical courses.
Dr. Leventhal is double board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He is also a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) and the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).
Areas of special interest include surgical treatments to improve nasal breathing and sinus surgery. Dr. Leventhal’s extensive training provides him with unique expertise in surgery for nasal obstruction. He also uses state-of-the-art techniques for sinonasal surgery including 3D Cat scan image guidance, balloon sinuplasty (Dr. Leventhal was involved with the initial research studies), Propel® and SINUVA® sinus implants, Clarifix® Cryotherapy, and Latera® nasal valve implants. In addition, Dr. Leventhal provides care for patients with general ear, nose, and throat disorders.
