About Deya Jourdy, MD, FARS, FACS
Dr. Deya Jourdy, Director of Rhinology, Sinus and Skull Base Surgery- Phelps Hospital Northwell Health and a Partner at ENT and Allergy Associates, LLP, is board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery and a NY Top Doctor. A magna cum laude graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, Dr. Jourdy graduated medical school at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He then completed his joint residency at the Columbia University and Cornell University campuses of New York Presbyterian Hospital (where he received the prestigious Distinguished Housestaff Award for exemplary service), and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. After his residency, Dr. Jourdy completed additional sub-specialty training at an internationally recognized fellowship in Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery, devoted exclusively to the treatment of advanced sinus disease and minimally invasive skull base and orbital surgery, at the University of Miami.
Dr. Jourdy has had extensive training in utilizing minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of sinonasal disease, such as sinusitis, deviated nasal septum, epiphora (excessive tearing), inferior turbinate hypertrophy, mucoceles, nasal obstruction, nasal polyps, nose bleeds, orbital disease due to Grave’s disease, smell and taste disorders, and tumors (benign or malignant). He has significant experience with newer minimally invasive approaches to the sinuses, anterior skull base and brain, pituitary gland, and orbits (eyes), to treat disorders in these regions without external incisions. Furthermore, Dr. Jourdy has had extensive training in minimally invasive base of skull surgery for the treatment of cerebrospinal fluid leaks, encephaloceles, meningoceles, pituitary tumors, and skull base tumors/lesions.
Utilizing a combination of specialized high definition intraoperative digital imaging, custom designed micro-instruments, minimally invasive balloon sinuplasty techniques, office-based procedures, and computer guided navigation, Dr. Jourdy is able to provide his patients with the most cutting edge and yet least invasive approaches to address disease processes of the sinuses and anterior skull base. This offers numerous advantages in terms of the surgery, recovery, and quality of life for his patients after surgery if needed, and in certain patients, can help avoid large skull openings, brain retraction, and/or disfiguring facial scars. Dr. Jourdy is currently one of only a few physicians with this combination of advanced training in the Hudson Valley.
Dr. Jourdy is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and Neurosurgery at New York Medical College. He has served as an instructor and moderator at numerous endoscopic sinus and skull base anatomy and surgical techniques courses at the national level, and has published numerous articles and book chapters in the otolaryngology literature focused primarily on sinonasal disease and endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery. In addition, Dr. Jourdy is an active member of the American Rhinologic Society, North American Skull Base Society, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.
