About Jonathan Smith, MD, FACS
Dr. Jonathan C. Smith received his B.A. from Wesleyan University and his medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He then went on to complete a General Surgery internship and an Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh.
At the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Smith distinguished himself not only for his excellent clinical and surgical skills, but also for his contributions to research in the field of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Smith currently has over a dozen articles and two book chapters on topics including the management and treatment of thyroid tumors, parathyroid surgery, neck cysts, laryngeal cancer, and head and neck reconstruction.
Dr. Smith is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and a member of this society. Dr. Smith is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of the New York Head and Neck Society and the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons. He is certified by the American College of Surgeons in Ultrasonography of the Head and Neck, specializing in the thyroid and parathyroid disease. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Smith served as a member of the Einstein Council of the Montefiore Medical Center in 2008 and he has been serving as a member of the Montefiore Medical Executive Committee since 2009. Dr. Smith enjoys teaching Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residents, general surgery residents, and medical students.
Dr. Smith was selected as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, and one of the Top Doctors: New York Metro Area in Otolaryngology, for 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
He was also in New York Magazine: Top Doctors: 2021.
Dr. Smith's interests include minimally invasive endoscopic sinus surgery, head and neck surgery, thyroid and parathyroid endocrine surgery, and salivary gland surgery.
